What's New at STEELBRIDGE
Steelbridge has undergone many changes in the last two years since covid has taken over the world, and we are so excited about the new direction we are headed in! Steelbridge is ecstatic to announce we have a new Executive Director, Shane Rabindranath. Shane has ample experience as he’s worked in human resources for over 15 years now. Before coming to Steelbridge he served as the Director of Business and Ministry development for the Pheonix Dream Center, as well as the Director of Ministry Support for Street Lights USA. He is passionate about serving and is ready to revolutionize the way Albuquerque serves those in need.
So what “new direction” is Steelbridge heading in? I’m so glad you asked! In an effort to help serve as many people in need in our community as possible, Steelbridge is actively working on adding an aged-out foster care program, as well as a program for human trafficking victims! These programs are a crucial need in Albuquerque.
More than 23,000 children will age out of the foster care system every year, and after reaching the age of 18, 20% of these children become instantly homeless. Soon, they will have a home in Steelbridge.
Human trafficking is way much more prevalent in ABQ than people may want to believe. Due to our high levels of poverty and domestic violence, people find themselves on the streets with no other options except to sell themselves to survive. This is one of the major pathways that lead to being human trafficked. But soon, they will have a place to go in Steelbridge.
We are heartbroken by the reality of addiction, homelessness, trauma, and anyone who has been a victim, and that is why at Steelbridge’s core all we want to do is help serve as many people as possible in Albuquerque. We are so excited to embark on this new journey, and hope you are as well!
